Battle of Bushy Run

Our premiere event for the year pits the forces of his Royal Highness King George III against a confederation of Native Americans.  See all the colors of war in the vibrant recreations of the two-day battle of Bushy Run that the various reenactors bring to life. Learn about how the battle progressed as well as how people lived in the mid-eighteenth century.

Two battle reenactments occur throughout the day. The morning battle starts at 11 a.m. and portrays the events that occurred on August 5, while the afternoon engagement begins at 2 p.m. and shows the August 6 tactics that led to British victory. Also featured are eighteenth century military camps, a sutler trade area, period craftspeople and a children’s area!

BRBHS General Meeting & Lecture

Saturday, March 19, 2016

1 p.m.

Join us for a talk by John Moore, an author and storytellerer from Northumberland, PA. He will be be talking about the adventures of five young Pennsylvanians who were abducted by Indian war parties during the French and Indian War.

John’s “Frontier Pennsylvania Series” include eight non-fiction books published by Sunbury Press that feature artwork by local artist Andy Knez, Jr.

Cost: $5.00 for nonmembers, free to BRBHS members

Ohio Country Conference

Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2016

Please join the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society for the 19th Annual Ohio Country Conference at Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, PA.

Featured speakers will include authors Daniel Ingram, David Preston and Tim Shannon, living historian John Curry, Ft. Ligonier Director of History & Collections Ericka Nuckles and Major Jason Warren, strategist to the U.S. Army War College.

12th Annual 5K Bushy Run Trail Run/Walk

The annual Penn Trafford Area Recreation Commission (PTARC) run/walk goes through the scenic trails of the beautiful, historical Bushy Run Battlefield. Proceeds benefit the parks and recreation facilities in the Penn-Trafford area.

Living History Day Camp

Monday, July 11th – Wednesday, July 13, 2016

10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Cost: $75 BRBHS members, $90 non-members

*$10 off Camp Fee for each additional sibling (member or nonmember) enrolled in Living History Day Camp. Ages 6-10 only.

Kids discover military camp life as it was in the 1760s. Take a trip into the past as you engage in activities of British soldiers and colonial civilians while learning the history behind the Battle of Bushy Run. Activities include:

* Colonial Children’s games

* Colonial Arts and Crafts

* Creating 18th century frontier and military clothing

* Learning to play military drum rolls

* Simple cooking over an open fire

* Guest speakers giving historical first-person accounts of life in the 18th century.

No lunches will be provided to campers—children must bring their own bag lunch. Registration required by Wednesday, June 15, 2016. No refunds will be issued after the registration deadline.
