A Thank You to “Yesterday.”
For all those at the Annual Meeting of the French and Indian War Foundation.

To Stevan Resan
For your talk on the Well, which still exists, from the efforts of a miner and well digger hired by Colonel George Washington. We want your Slide Show File !!!!

Annual Awards:
.
Leo Bernstein award to Judy Kay Schroer.
For her accounting for tax free status, and other work for this French and Indian War Foundation.
.
Judge Woltz award to Glenn Williams.
for his historical works on Lord Dunmore’s War, and Year of the Hangman: George Washington’s Campaign against the Iroquois. And we thank him very much for coming to the annual meeting yesterday, https://www.virginiahistory.org/node/2431

Ft. Loudoun award to Tony Elar Jr.
For extending the work begun under Norman Baker to show the Fort’s footprint on the ground, on the sideway and the street for passersby to see how massively fat the wall were. He and President David Grosso of the Foundation are working with State and City Officials on that. Also an extra thank you to Tony for creating and guiding us in the George Mercer Company of the VA Regiment under Col George Washington
.
Outstanding Service to Chuck & Beverly Veatch.
.
Plaque to Kendra Tolley, who has worked with the Foundation for years putting out notices and newsletters and for her work lately with Patrick Murphy the Foundation’s liason for the newsletter.
.
We don’t have enough awards.
Because in our audience were many who have helped in the Cause of History, preserving the memory, the fight against America’s Amnesia !!!
.
Thanks to Marc Robinson for being in a Continental Soldier Uniform and who is also on the Foundation Board and who also is on the James Wood chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
.
Thanks to Eric Robinson for showing up in his Virginia Regiment uniform as part of the Captain George Mercer Company and for his interest and knowledge of history.
.
Thanks to Scott Straub.
He Captained the creation of the Fort Loudoun Sign which he still maintains to this day. He has also done excellent research on the miner hired by Colonel George Washington to dig and blast the Well in 1756-1758.
.
Thanks to Eric Cherry
He is working with me creating pictures to visualize the stories we are researching, and for his recently having one of this pictures to be selected by Peter Stark in his book, Young Washington, who recently gave a talk at Handley Library Tuesday, Sept 30, 2018.
.
Finally Thanks again to French and Indian War Foundation President David Grosso for organizing the meeting, for working on the Fort’s imprint with Tony Elar Jr, for working with Stevan Resan in connecting with Belle Grove.
.
And I do not know who organized the hors d’oeuvres and drinks and refreshments but thank YOU !!!!

First time for human eyes to look inside this well for about 80 years: May 31, 2013.  Then on July 25 Thursday 2013, a camera went below the water in the well and found sediment built up 75 feet down. The Well is recorded by Washington and his men to have been blasted down to 103 feet.

About our speaker, Mr Robert Ambrose

Mr Robert Ambrose works for the Maryland Park Service. In 8 years of service he has been both a historical interpreter at Fort Frederick in Maryland, as well and Ranger at Cunningham Fall, Gambrill and Fort Frederick State Parks.

.
Mr Ambrose is a graduate of Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, VA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science.

.

He has been involved in living history for 21 years during which time he has portrayed soldiers from the French and Indian War, American Revolutions, War of 1812, Indian Wars of the 1870s, and the Spanish American War.

.

In addition he has done interpretation on African American Subjects and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

.
Mr Ambrose lives in Berkeley Springs, WV with his wife and three sons.

.

Fort Frederick MD will be the subject of our 2017 Annual Meeting.

Short Bio of John Adamson

.

john-adamson-sitting-with-long-rifleMr. Adamson is a native Virginian having grown up in Arlington County.  He attended Virginia Tech where he graduated with a B.S. in Statistics and later received an MBA from the University of Richmond.

.

During his career with C&P and Bell Atlantic/Verizon, John has lived at various times in Richmond, Culpeper and Fairfax County.  On his retirement in 1998 he relocated with his wife Barbara to Strasburg, VA.  The Adamson’s have two grown children, a son and daughter, and three grandchildren.

.

John has long had an interest in history in general, military history in particular, and especially that of the Kentucky long rifle.

.

Since arriving in Shenandoah County John has cultivated an interest in Shenandoah County history, local architecture and the material culture of the Shenandoah Valley.  He has been very active in the Shenandoah Valley community serving on numerous boards and advisory committees of area historic organizations.

In his “free time”, John is an active member and past president of the Strasburg Rotary Club and enjoys fishing for smallmouth bass in the North Fork of the Shenandoah R. from his canoe.

.
