4th Annual F & I War Game Weekend

March 31 -April 2, 2017

Friday to Sunday

Your F&I unit is invited to attend the fourth annual F&I war game weekend. As in the past we will have different scenarios with objectives to be accomplished by all who take the field.  These objectives will encompass the 200 acre site, testing your unit’s resolve through its rather unforgiving terrain.

.

​Judges will be embedded with units while in the field and our established rules of engagement will be in place.  The ruling of all judges is final.

.

Separate camps will be established for the different forces, British/Colonial, Native and French.

.

Quality firewood, water and bathroom facilities will be provided.

.

In order to start things off a bit differently this year

the War Games officially begin at 6:30 PM on Friday

(after the officer meeting outside the fort at 6:00)

and will end on Sunday at 2 p.m.

to allow for travel time for those coming some distance.

.

Set up begins at 12:00 noon Friday March 31.

Don’t worry, late arrivals will be accommodated and directed to camp site.

.

The overall winning force will be determined and announced on Sunday afternoon before the break of camp.

.

Military protocol will be in force throughout the weekend, officers and NCOs should be shown the respect given their rank.

.

Friday evening officers meeting

will take place promptly at 6:00 pm

and at least one officer from each unit must attend.     

Meeting location is just outside the fort gate.

.

Presentation: The Archaeological Digging of the Fort Loudoun Site with Guest Speaker Mr. Steven Warfel

Artifacts Display:  Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (Patton House)

(Open to the Public beginning at 6 P.M.)     Mr. Warfel’s program begins at 7 P.M.

Saturday September 26th, 2015

Site opens to the public, 9 A.M.

The Conococheague Rebellion, Meet James Smith and Magistrate William Smith

10 A.M.  (Black Boys Camp)

Prisoner Rescue, Black Boys and Conococheague men move on the fort. 11:30 A.M.

Nooning, Lunch Break for all. 12 to 12:45 P.M.

Skirmish at the Widow Barr’s House, A detachment of 42nd Highlanders encounter Smith and his men at the home of the Widow Barr’s and a skirmish takes place. (Patton House)  1 P.M.

Tour the Fort, See and talk to the men of the 42nd Highlanders. 2:30 P.M.

Visit the camps of the Black Boys and men of the Conococheague, See, smell and touch 18th century life as lived on the frontier.  4 P.M.

Firing on the Fort and Surrender of Firearms, James Smith, his Black Boys and men of the Conococheague surround the fort and demand the surrender of confiscated firearms by Lieutenant Grant and his Highlanders. 5:30 P.M. (Following this program the event closes for the day

Sunday September 27th, 2015

Site opens to the public 9 A.M.

Open to the Public, 18th Century Church Service, Join the Highlanders in the fort for an Anglican Church Service as served in the 18th century. (Service will last about 20 minutes) 9:30 A.M.

On A Scout, Join James Smith and his Black Boys on a scout into the forest. (Meet at the bridge just below the fort gate) 10:30 A.M.

Nooning, Lunch break for all. 12 to 1P.M.

Departure of the fort’s Garrison, Lieutenant Grant and his garrison of Highlander troops make ready and depart for Fort Pitt.  (Meet outside the gate of the fort) 1:15 P.M.

Your questions to Lieutenant Grant and the men of the garrison, After the company of Highlanders leave the fort you may ask questions of the garrison.  Located outside the fort gate North of the fort. 1:45 P.M.

End of Programming, event closes at 2:15 P.M.

A Previous Event

2nd Annual French & Indian War Games at Historic Fort Loudoun April 11 and 12 of 2015

.

British, French and Native American re-enactors will be competing in French & Indian War Games at the State Historic site of Fort Loudoun starting at 9 a.m. on both Saturday, April 11 , and Sunday, April 12, 2015 This is an unscripted event that is set in the 1750s with the French and Native Allies attempting to take control of British territory, Fort Loudoun. Each side must compete against the other, completing objectives and ultimately winning the territory for Britain or New France. This event will allow visitors to step back in time to the 1750s and watch history unfold before their eyes. The event is free and open to the public. Saturday’s events will last all day while Sunday’s will end at 3 p.m. Re-enactors will also have camp sites set up in the fort stockade and around the site for visitors to view. The State Historic site of Fort Loudoun is located on North Brooklyn Road, Fort Loudon, 13 miles west of Chambersburg off Route 30.
