Leicester House

.
Could this be the origin of Leicester Street in Winchester VA?

.

The Leicester House

was the Home of

Frederick, Prince of Wales,

next in line to the throne

after King George II.
.
They hated each other.

.

.

Leicester House then becomes the Opposition to the crown

NEXT IN LINE?

.

But Frederick dies in 1751.
Who’s next in line?
Not his brother, Lord Cumberland, the Butcher of Culloden.
.

Next in line?
Frederick dies, leaving his 13 year old son George III next in line.
.

George III, aged 22, becomes King in 1760 when grandfather King George II dies.
.
George III’s Dad,

Frederick is who

Frederick Co VA is named after in 1738.

.

Frederick’s wife Augusta

is who Augusta Co VA is named after, 1738.

.
.
About Frederick Co VA and

about Frederick Prince of Wales:

.

Frederick Louis, Prince of Wales and Frederick Co VA

.
But all this time leading up to 1760, the Leicester House run by Frederick and then by his wife Augusta, who Augusta Co VA is named after, is the headquarters for all politicians seeking to oppose Frederick’s father, King George II.
.

.

.

Lord Bute

.

And the advisor, first of Frederick, and then of his widow Augusta, and of his son the future King George III ?
.
Lord Bute.
The man who engineered the Peace Treaty ending the French and Indian War.
The man who was the origin of “Jack Boot.”

1759 Lord Fairfax Addition to Winchester VA

.
So now back to the Winchester Streets proposed to the House of Burgesses in 1759 by Lord Fairfax and his representative cousin, Thomas Bryan Martin.
.

.
So all those parallel streets

above Cork Street

in Winchester VA?

.

.
That’s the 1759 addition

by Lord Fairfax

and Thomas Bryan Martin.

.

.

They named

this 1759 addition

of Winchester streets

– – all after London Streets.

.

.

.

.
The story behind their names

like Leicester House

also informs us why

Lord Fairfax

and Thomas Bryan Martin

may have selected those

particular London streets.

.

On the London England map,

notice how Cork connects

between Piccadilly and Clifford?

.

On the Winchester VA

Lord Fairfax 1759 addition,

compare how Clifford is

the next street above Cork.

.

.

.

Thomas Bryan Martin

.

And Thomas Bryan Martin?

He is Lord Fairfax’s cousin.

.

.
He ran for Burgesses of Frederick Co

with George Washington

in 1758 and 1761.

.

Washington wins first election 1758 House of Burgesses

.
Adam Stephen, formerly Lt Colonel

and second in command under

Colonel George Washhington of the

Virginia Regiment,

created Martinsburg in 1777,

naming it for Thomas Bryan Martin.

.
Interesting this story of Martinsburg for 2 reasons:

.
1. Adam Stephen lost

to George Washington and

Thomas Bryan Martin

in an allegedly corrupt

1761 election for

House of Burgessess in 1761.
.

George Washington 1761 Election House of Burgesses – DIRTY POLITICS?

.
.

Adam Stephen doesn’t miss a beat though.

.

2. Despite losing to

Thomas Bryan Martin

years before in 1761,

he still names Martinsburg for him

many years later in 1777

after being cashiered

out of the American Army,

accused of bad behavior

in the Battle of Germantown.

Story behind the Street Names of 1759 Lord Fairfax addition.

.

.

So back to the streets again.
Notice in London, Cork runs between Piccadilly and Clifford.
Notice in Winchester VA the next street above Cork is Clifford?
.

.

James Wood picks Piccadilly.

.
James Wood also picks Cork

to intersect Braddock,

because Braddock’s men

embarked on ships

from Cobh bay of Cork Ireland

to cross the Atlantic.

.

.

.
Lord Fairfax and

Thomas Bryan Martin

pick Clifford Street

because

of its connect to

Cork Street

in London.

.
There’s more. But that’s another story.
